QBO Payroll When UA is not required by employer
We are using QBO Payroll e services that automatically files and pays payroll taxes. However, we are a church and in Michigan, churches are not required to get a UA number and they are not even required to file an appliction to get an exemption. It is automatically exempt from fileing and paying. We have proved this to QBO Payroll, yet the app insists that we need to finish our setup by putting in a UA number. The program needs to have a box that allows us to state that we are not required to have a UA number and not required to file. All it offers right now is that we choose not file UA (which still requires a number). We are not required to have a number. The problem is that we now receiveing emails that threaten to cut us off from our automatic tax payments and tax filing. The help person I talked to said that that email only refers to the UA filing, but I'm conserned that it will cut off all state tax filings which includes the withholding account. because the email says if we do not fix this we may need to re-enroll. Only time will tell
