Service Categories on New Invoice Layout
The new invoice layout doesn't show the service item category. Our entire billing system is setup to break the services down by category and have different billable rates depending on the category. Without being able to see that, the new layout is useless.

Estimate and invoice custom templates should have same fields and columns.
Estimate and invoice custom templates should be identical in the QuickBooks Online Account so that when an estimate is confirmed. This is to save time and error in recreating the invoice which is same as the estimate.

Message Preview Pane Malfunctioning
Ever since the release of the "new view", whenever you go to send an invoice the Preview Pane will not update when editing the message body. The template message stays in the preview pane regardless of what you type in the message body pane.

New invoice format isn't working!!! Customization not working at all.
I can't add items to bundles via drag and drop like I used to. The customer messages at the bottom are saved in my custom form settings but don't show up in the actual invoices. The payment terms section is also blank even though I have saved them in the settings as well.
This new modern format is a disaster and no amount of trying to fix it on my end is working. This has added 5x the amount of time and effort I have to put into ALL invoices that I need to send. UNACCEPTABLE QUICKBOOKS!9 votes -
Bring over attachments when adding billable expenses to an invoice.
The old invoicing format brought over any attachments on billable expenses when they were added to invoices. Apparently that functionality was removed with the new invoice format. Please bring back the old invoice format until this functionality can be added to the new invoice format. This is critical functionality that many, many users need immediately.

new invoice view
New Invoice View is not helpful. It changed our standard invoice template and you can't see the full addresses anymore because the boxes are too small and cannot be expanded. Also, when you print/download it used to drop automatically to the previous file/folder that the last invoice was printed/saved to and it gave a default file title of "Invoice #XXXX" and now it doesn't do that. It opens a new tab and assigns a random number and you have to download it again. Please fix this or allow us to go back to the old view.

Report for outstanding invoices that have not been viewed
I would like to be able to create a custom report that will show outstanding invoices that have not been viewed by the customer. This would be a less time consuming way to check customer contact info to be sure the correct email is associated with the customer account rather than clicking through every outstanding invoice to see if it's been viewed or not.

Add a feature allowing for Dynamic Messages on Recurring Invoices
When sending recurring invoices for "month ahead" services, it would make this recurring process even more worthwhile and effective if the invoice message could be made to update with a date appropriate message that changes each month to give the month the services are being billed for:
If it's issued on Feb 1 for services in March 2024, it would say "March 2024" in Feb, and then April 2024 on the March invoice and so on.5 votes -
Custom invoice numbers should be able to add letters
Let me add letters to custom invoice number on the mobile app again! I use first initial of the technician completing the service to identify invoices. Now with new layout you cant add letters on mobile device.

Add ability to add columns to invoice and options to toggle on/off visibility when printing/PDF
I have read numerous complaints about the lack of options for hiding selected invoice columns when printing or saving as PDF. There are many situations where certain columns are valuable to be visible while creating an invoice however should not be visible to the customer when printed or saved as a PDF.
