Please describe the invoice in the subject line of email and receipt e.g. Third quarter 2020. Could also add appropriate company name per another suggestion

Create rules for invoices paid within QB just like for banking transactions.
Can paying the invoice within QB create that invoice and mark it as paid?
I realize QB would have to know how to create all the data for that invoice/expense. But if you can make rules for banking transactions, I bet you can create rules for invoices received and paid all within your world.

PAYMENT DATE OPTIONS
Allow us to choose the date in advance to pay the invoice. For example: when we receive the invoice for the lawn bill - if we click to pay the invoice it's taken out that day. If we could set our date in advance, I believe you would have more individuals paying their bill on time.

Stop with the misleading messaging re: paying by Debit/Credit!
You use sloppy and misleading communication regarding paying by debit/credit card. You say in other threads on this issue that "The payment method type is decided by the merchant" yet, the error message that the payer receives is "Unable to complete transaction, try again later)! Which is just misleading because "trying again later" WILL NEVER WORK! A better error message would be some thing like: "This merchant does not accept Debit/Credit card payments. Please try another option below". It boggles my mind that you would mislead payers and make your merchants look so bad, especially since getting paid is the…

Allow for partial payment. Allow to put in the amount paying
There are tiers for payment on the invoice. That option is not available when it comes time to pay online. I had to pay the full amount when I was told that you pay half before the job is started and the remaining half when the job is completed.
