4. Don't override the manually entered sales tax in an estimate when converting to an invoice

   For years, the sales tax manually entered in an estimate was carried over to the invoice when using the feature to convert an estimate to an invoice. Sometime around June, QBO made a change that now overrides the sales tax amount entered manually in the estimate by recalculating the sales tax. If QBO's calculations were correct for everyone, then there wouldn't need to be a way to manually enter the sales tax, but there is. Please go back to the way it was when the manually entered sales tax amount was properly carried over to the invoice. This change was made without any warning and already cost our business thousands of dollars in sales tax and now makes it an error prone process to workaround this bug. Thank you.

    My business is mobile. That means my pricing changes based on where my customer is located, how far I need to travel, and what kind of service I’m offering on-site. But here’s the problem: QBO Estimates don’t currently let me easily customize mobile service charges by location.

    What I Need from QBO Estimates

    I’d love to see QBO introduce a feature where I can:

    Add a “mobile service fee” field to my estimates

    Set pricing dynamically based on mileage or zip code

    Build in travel charges without manually editing each estimate

    Save preset tiers (e.g., 0–10 miles = $25, 11–20 miles = $50, etc.)

    Right now, I have to create a custom line item each time, and that slows me down. It’s a hassle when I’m managing dozens of customer requests, especially since I’m often on the road or working onsite.

    Why This Feature Matters to Businesses Like Mine

    For mobile service businesses — not just RV repair but also plumbers, HVAC techs, mobile detailers, or mechanics — travel time is part of the cost of doing business. And it’s something that customers understand, as long as it’s communicated clearly and consistently.

    QBO is already a great tool for managing invoices and expenses, but without smart estimate tools that reflect real-world mobile pricing, it creates more work for us — and opens the door for errors.

    I’ve even had customers question inconsistent service charges because I forgot to adjust the travel cost manually. A built-in, automated structure would solve this instantly.

    This Would Improve My Customer Experience

    My customers rely on fast, accurate quotes. Whether they need help fixing a class C RV at a campsite or want to sell their RV from their driveway, they expect me to show up — and show up with a clear price.
