OST File Damaged After Sudden Laptop Shutdown - Any Repair Option?

My laptop turned off unexpectedly while Outlook was running, and now I can not open my mailbox. Outlook says the OST file can not be accessed. I am guessing it got damaged during the shutdown. How can I repair or restore this file safely?

    If your OST file has been damaged due to an unexpected laptop shutdown, there are two solutions. The first, manual option can repair, but is not useful for the beginner or non-technical user.
