At GiftTree, we’re proud to represent a global network of innovative online stores that share this same vision — GiftTree NZ: https://www.gifttree.co.nz

, GiftTree US: https://www.gifttree.us

, and The Node (NZ): https://www.thenode.co.nz
Improving the QuickBooks Estimates and Deposits feature would be extremely valuable for businesses that rely on advance payments, staged billing, or high-volume online transactions.
From an operational perspective, a few enhancements could make a significant difference:
Clearer Deposit Tracking Against Estimates
It would help if deposits were more transparently linked to individual estimates, with a clearer view of how much has been paid, how much remains, and how deposits convert into final invoices—especially when estimates change.
Partial Deposit & Multi-Stage Payments
Many businesses require multiple deposits or milestone payments. Native support for percentage-based deposits and automatic application across revised estimates would reduce manual work and errors.
Better Audit & Reporting Visibility
Improved reporting that separates deposits, unapplied credits, and revenue recognition would make reconciliation easier—particularly for e-commerce and multi-region businesses.
Stronger Integration With Online Sales Models
Businesses operating online often deal with pre-orders, custom orders, and delayed fulfillment. More flexible deposit handling would better reflect real-world cash flow.

accurate handling of estimates and deposits is critical for customer trust, accounting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
Supporting brands such as The Node NZ (https://www.thenode.co.nz/
), which focuses on digital infrastructure, and FlyHugz NZ (https://www.flyhugz.co.nz/
), which operates on pre-order and experience-based sales models, also highlights how modern businesses increasingly rely on flexible deposit workflows rather than simple one-time invoices.
Overall, enhancements to QuickBooks’ Estimates and Deposits feature would better support growing online businesses, service-based operations, and companies operating across multiple markets.
Interested to hear how others are currently handling deposits and staged payments in QuickBooks.
