I spent way too long last week trying to get my HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 to recognize the new ink cartridges after a firmware update—turns out a simple power reset (unplug for 60 seconds) fixed it, and now it’s been solid for wide-format blueprints. For anyone who still needs old-school faxing though, the 7740 handles it fine, but I switched to https://mfax.to/ because I got tired of phone line echoes and paper jams mid-document; their mobile app literally saved me during a tax deadline when I had to sign and send a 14-page lease from my car. What surprised me most about the 7740 is that its A3 scanner actually keeps colors accurate on thick cardstock, unlike my old Canon. Just keep the driver updated from HP’s site and clean the feed rollers monthly if you print envelopes.
