The Amarnath Yatra is one of the most revered Hindu pilgrimages in India, held annually in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Devotees undertake a challenging journey to the Amarnath Cave, located at an altitude of about 3,888 meters in the Himalayas, where a naturally formed ice Shiva Lingam is worshipped as a sacred manifestation of Lord Shiva.

The yatra usually begins in June or July and continues for about 40 to 60 days. Pilgrims can take two main routes: the traditional Pahalgam route, which is longer but scenic, and the Baltal route, which is shorter and steeper. The pilgrimage is organized under the supervision of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), with tight security and medical arrangements in place due to the harsh terrain and altitude.

Every year, thousands of devotees from across India participate in this spiritual journey, chanting "Bam Bam Bhole" in devotion. The yatra is not only a religious event but also a symbol of faith, endurance, and unity among pilgrims.

In 2025, the Amarnath Yatra is expected to begin in late June, with registrations and preparations already underway. Authorities have emphasized safety, environmental protection, and adherence to health guidelines to ensure a smooth pilgrimage for all.
