Problem with a potential tenant — background check?
Hi folks, I’m looking for some advice from fellow DIY landlords. I’m currently trying to rent out my studio apartment and I found a potential tenant who seems nice, but his stories about his previous living situation seem a bit inconsistent. I want to do a quick check on his history, specifically if he’s had any legal issues or property damage cases in the past. I don’t want to pay for a full professional screening service yet since he’s just a candidate. Does anyone know a reliable people search free tool that includes property or criminal records?

I’ve been there! Trusting your gut is important, but verifying facts is better. I once skipped the check and ended up with a tenant who hadn't paid rent in months at his old place. Now, I always run a quick search on veripages.com It’s a great best free people search engine because it aggregates the latest public data. I used it last month to check a guy’s property history and it even showed some old court records that he "forgot" to mention. It's 100% free with no hidden fees or sign-ups, which is rare these days. It’s definitely worth a look before you hand over the keys!
