I’m writing to raise
I’m writing to raise a serious usability and reliability issue with your bank information form. The form currently prevents users from copying and pasting banking details (such as account number, routing number, IBAN, or sort code), forcing manual entry instead.
This is a major problem for several reasons:
• It significantly increases the risk of human error. Banking details are long and sensitive, and manual entry is far more likely to result in typos.
• Even a single incorrect digit can cause failed payments, delays, or funds being sent to the wrong account.
• This creates unnecessary friction for users and slows down completion of the form, especially when entering information that is already available in secure banking portals or password managers.
• Blocking copy/paste does not improve security. It simply shifts risk onto the user by encouraging manual transcription, which is objectively less accurate.
• It also breaks compatibility with accessibility tools and password managers, which many users rely on for secure and accurate entry.
From a technical and UX standpoint, preventing paste input is a poor design decision. Modern best practice is to allow paste while using validation tools (format checks, checksum validation where applicable, and confirmation fields) to ensure accuracy.
By forcing manual entry, the form design directly increases the likelihood of incorrect submissions and creates avoidable operational issues.
I strongly recommend that copy/paste functionality be enabled immediately for all banking fields. At minimum, users should be able to paste values and confirm them, rather than being forced to type them manually.
Please escalate this to your technical team, as this is a critical reliability issue and creates unnecessary risk for both customers and your organization.
