merchant required a deposit. COULD NOT FIND THE BUTTON TO CHANGE THE AMOUNT, so I paid in full. Now I have no leverage with the merchant to finish the job, OR we have complicated charge backs & other complexities.

Make it easier/more obvious how to pay a portion, e.g. if your merchant is asking for a deposit.
