The payment always comes through as the entire amount owed on an electronic invoice. To make it the correct amount the end-user has to find a very small "edit amount' button in light gray next to the amount at the top of an invoice that does not fit on a typical 13" computer screen. Scrolling up and searching carefully does work, however.
