How to Extract Attachments from MSG Files without Outlook?
I have got a folder full of MSG files exported from Outlook, and I need to extract all attachments from them. The issue is, I do not have Outlook installed on the system I’m currently using.
I came across a few tools online, including something called MSG Attachment Extractor, but I’m not sure which one is reliable or how to use them properly.

I had done the same thing some time back—I had to extract attachments from MSG files exported from Outlook, but the computer I was working on did not have Outlook installed. I looked at a lot of tools but most of them were Outlook dependent. Then I found Softaken MSG Attachment Extractor and that got my job done without any problem. The special thing about this tool is that it can open MSG files and extract attachments even without Outlook. I am giving its step-by-step process below:
How to extract attachments from MSG files
Step 1: First, download and install the tool.
Step 2: Open the tool and click on the “Browser” button. Add the MSG file. You can choose between folder and within folder.
Step 3: Then you choose the file that you want to extract.
Step 4: If you want, you can also apply filters—like if you want to extract only PNG or DOC files.
Step 5: Select the location where you want the result to go by clicking the "Browser" button.
Step 6: Do it now by pressing the "Process Now" button.
In a few minutes all the attachments will be extracted and saved in your selected folder.
I used the free trial of this tool first, which is good for testing before the full version. If you have hundreds of MSG files and don’t have Outlook, then this tool works perfectly.
