I’m unable to perform a clean installation using QuickBooks Clean Install Tool. Is it possible to do it manually?
Well, the QuickBooks clean install tool is not compatible with some specific Windows 2020. Thus, whenever you come across such a scenario, you are required to follow the steps given below for renaming the folders manually. Here’s how:
Firstly, tap on the Start menu.
For more info visit our page -
Now, search for File explorer and open it.
After that, open the Folder in which you have stored your company files.
C:\Users(current user)\AppData\Local\Intuit\QuickBooks (year)
C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks (year)
64-bit version C:\Program Files (x86)\Intuit\QuickBooks
Once you find the respective folder, hit right-click on it and select the Rename tab.
Furthermore, add ‘.old’ at the end of the folder name. This will help to prevent the QuickBooks desktop from accessing this folder upon reinstallation.
In the end, you’ll be allowed to Reinstall the QuickBooks Desktop software.
If somehow the following error message “The access denied while renaming the folder” pops up on your screen while renaming the folder, then check out the below-listed steps:
Hold and press the Ctrl + Shift + Esc keys to open the task manager. You can also search for the task manager in the Start menu bar.
Now, click on the Processes tab.
Choose the Name column header to order the list.
After this, look for the following QuickBooks-related processes in the processes tab: Qbw32.exe, QBDBMgrN.exe, QBDBMgr.exe, QBCFMonitorService.exe.
After choosing each of these processes, hit the End Process tab.
If you got the warning message “Terminating a process can cause undesired results” then press the Yes icon.
