Thank you so much for your feedback on sales form customization in QuickBooks. We acknowledge that we have a ways to go, but we’ve staffed this feature and are making headway.

Right now, we have two versions of form customization running in parallel. In our newest one, we just released a beta of style import, wherein you can bring any *.docx based invoice template and use it in QuickBooks. You may access this feature by going to the gear, then clicking “QuickBooks Labs” > “Import Style.” Not on this version? We are moving people every month and enabling you to keep your old form too! Your default will change to start, but you can always revert to a frozen version of your old form without editing capabilities if you’d like.

Lately we’ve been working on the print infrastructure to ensure you can print larger batches and render PDFs faster, invoice…

QBO and it's form templates are the biggest joke ever. What a pile of crap they've given us to choose from or use. We've managed to make the .docx template work well enough, but even it took hours of tweaking to fit in a double window envelope, and have things list out properly. There are a handful of absolutely useless database fields that will NEVER show data. I bitched so much on FB that they blocked me. Never cursed, called anyone names, etc. Just very critical of the product we're paying for. My company is moving to ZOHO's suite of cloud apps. In our case we're going to use Zoho One. I'd suggest others dig in and look for alternatives too. QBO will continue to be half baked. Intuit is only concerned with it's board and investors. Zoho for instance is a privately held company, and has a very admirable way of hiring, fostering growth, and retention. www.zoho.com/aboutus.html
      I know what I'm doing 1/1/2018 and on...do you?

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

I'm honestly surprised that someone at Intuit, possibly a board member hasn't stumbled across this train wreck. They should have fired the entire team responsible for forms, templates, and everything else that is produced from QBO it's all crap, always has been. Can't edit packing slips, can't edit PO's, can't make invoices look decent, can't add simple things like a customers phone number, you name it...what an absolute mess...way to go Intuit!

Oh and stop branding my emails. I pay a premium price monthly, you should NOT be advertising on my emails, period.

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

You better go back to PRO, QBO doesn't get any better, I promise you. It's one disappointment after another and an engineering team that does NOT address customer needs. QBO is as far from "QuickBooks" as water is from oil. The two are nothing alike.

      RUN WHILE YOU CAN!!

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

QBO redefines the word shortfall. BUT to the previous poster, you can add a "subtotal" line as you're adding invoice line items. Just click the button on screen as you're working on the invoice

      Option #1 Deal with it
      or
Option #2 Find other accounting service/software

Is it not evident yet that they do not care to make this right? Is it not evident that there have been virtually no updates those year, vs. last year. Last year we were typically accustomed to and update, about every month. When was the last one???

QBO and Intuit only care about taking money in exchange for a half baked and poorly supported software to make investors happy, not users.

The best thing you can do is bail on QBO because they will NEVER make things right. Have you looked when this topic was created, the # of votes AND the comments? They're not paying us any attention.

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

Run before you're deeply invested in this garbage. We're ALL dealing with this garbage, problem is that it gets worse as time goes on. QBO takes away functionality in place of new "features". I am producing several different styles of forms because Intuit does not care about their customers. Their product is 100% a waste of time, RUN while you still can!

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

Problem #1. Intuit does not care about you or your problem.
      Problem #2. See problem #1

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

QB support is just a spam number, look it up. But of course they'll probably just keep posting their crap, this site is not monitored by Intuit.

Anyway, as Rob mentioned there are plenty of topics, many are thoughtfully explained needs and requests for improvement, yet Intuit is not interested on acting on ANY of these topics. In fact they're not even monitoring this forum. Basically, to sum it up Intuit just sucks. They suck pretty bad too. Actually, they're really good at sucking miserably, so congratulations Intuit you win the award for sucking the most!

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

Those last few posts by "QB Support" are just spam.

Further proving this feedback forum is not monitored and is a wasteland of great ideas that Intuit will NEVER act on.

Intuit only likes our subscription money, time to send it to a different company who is considerate of using it to better thier product while delivering what users need.

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

Intuit is only concerned with promoting their subscription accounting software, which for many ends up costing much more than the desktop version. Then on top of that they supply a crippled product, pathetic support, and ZERO intent on improving the product for their customers. Intuit's only concern is thier bottom line and making their investors happy with QBO subscriptions. Worst accounting service out there because Intuit has failed miserably at giving a damn about subscribers. There are other options out there, I encourage everyone who reads this to makes plans to try out some other services and make a year end plan to switch. Intuit needs to start losing more subscriptions than those they gain, maybe then they'll start to care.

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

They're only interested in as many monthly subscriptions as possible. Period. If you need a cloud based solution have a look at Zoho Books and/or Zoho Inventory. They have a very feature rich ecosystem, and the accounting software makes QBO look like child's play.

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

Zoho Books + Zoho Inventory = Problem solved.

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

In case you ALL haven't noticed, this topic is YEARS old. Has over 4k votes, and Intuit is STILL asleep at the wheel. They're literally not paying ANY attention to this feedback site. Reach out via Facebook, Twitter, escaled support, emails, etc. I might start posting email addresses again...I actually got a nasty call from them once because of it. Ha! That got their attention. I've got several new ones now...

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

To the previous post...I wouldn't go the route of discounts. I invoice total amount, and when a downpayment is required I stipulate with a notes line item, the terms of payment and other specific important details. Then once I receive the downpayment, I just add it as a deposit against the original invoice. That way the whole transaction remains on one invoice and I adjust the due date accordingly so as QBO doesn't consider it as overdue

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

I wouldn't expect any miracles here folks. Honestly, this has been a highly active and desired topic since 2012. We're approaching 2016 here. Ample time to get this right, had they an interest in doing so. There are other online accounting applications that give you near total control of your forms, in a drag and drop interface.

QBO's escalation team no longer responds to my emails, just goes to show you what they think of their "customers".

I was given countless promises of help and information after speaking to their escalations team, but then...dead silence.

Unfortunately, for those of us that come here and give our thoughts, suggestions, frustrations, etc. It's a waste of time. I'm just dealing with this product for the time being, until I find a suitable service to switch to.

None are perfect, and they all have their shortcomings. Intuit's primary shortcoming is not listening to and not delivering to the needs of their subscribers.

If this is a hot issue for you, or you're in need of certain core functionality, better start looking elsewhere because what improvements do happen to trickle down the line here, they always leave a lot to be desired.

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

My experience with the APP was "OK", except for the 30s page loads for each and every page. It's really just a 100mb browser overlay. And it doesn't work very well, or provide and additional functionality. I'll stick with Chrome.

On the updates blog for the app topic, I provided praise AND candid issues in separate messages, only the praise was posted.

The blog is very heavily moderated and filtered.

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

QBO should rename this feedback site..."The QBO Vent". That's about the only purpose of it. They've officially stopped responding to my emails to their escalated department. Guess they just don't care about certain customers...

Look at any topic with significant votes, very little if any action from Intuit. Expect that to continue.

I won't even get into the Windows "Application"

      Pretty sad really.

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

      You're 100% correct.

You can only customize certain forms. Credit memos, purchase orders, etc. cannot be customized what so ever. Thanks a lot QBO.

But hey, this topic is only years old now. Look at the bright side though, we can now add pictures and SKU's to "inventory" items, which serves absolutely no purpose outside of inventory.... so that basically makes up for the lacking forms right? Yes, that's sarcasm...

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

Those "so-called" updates blogs are HEAVILY moderated. They must manually approve each post, and believe me....they cherry pick those that they want in public view. Intuit is a terrible company, it's controllers and executives are ONLY looking at their balance sheet. They DO NOT care about their customers. They also do not care to improve a potentially good product/service. They piece meal these "updates", it's all just a really bad joke. Unfortunately it's real joke for many of us who have to work with this. I'm gone too, real soon!

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

Give xero or zoho books a look. They're much closer to getting it right. Both have their drawbacks, but both do listen and use user input. That doesn't happen here at QBO. I'm gone at the end of the year. Me and many others just can't take it anymore.

You can't have an unsolved active topic for years, that's just stupid.

Well, we have a reply finally from QB team. But as always, they've addressed little. I don't think they have read our concerns or issues. They make a post that spells out virtually nothing they're doing to make things right. There's no mention of making the forms more customizeable to fit the unique needs of each of our businesses. There's no mention of PO customization either.

The Docx import is useless to many. Unless we're all Word geniuses, it's a fail too. I tried the docx option, using your "template" made a single solitary change to a table and it ruined the whole template.

What good will rendering pdf's faster do, if all the forms are crap?

You need some new talent in there to get this figured out. Customizing a form should be easy for anyone in this day and age. Go take a look at how ZOHO books does it. They've got form customization aced! Why does Intuit, a much larger and more powerful company not have them beat at this? In fact look at their whole "books" product, they do quite a bit more functionality that we everyday users need. Partial inventory receiving being THE #1 separator to QBO for me.

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

HUNDREDS OF COMMENTS, NO RESPONSE FROM QBO TEAM.

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

My forms were rolled back after I complained relentlessly on Facebook. Give it a try, they're not listening here...

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

Off topic, but inline with these comments is the "app" or add-on selection. Wow, it's great that we CAN add needed functionality to QBO IF we wished to pay more, but why can't QBO wake up and see the need for the functionality to already exist within QBO? Another major gripe for me me is the "app" is nothing more than a link to some other service that talks to QBO in the background. And like the previous poster said, when one updates and the other doesn't know anything about it, then what? A complete mess.

If I really wanted to, for about $125-150 EXTRA per month, I too could have tons more functionaily by way of these "apps". At the end of the end of the day though I do not have the time nor the patience to bounce between this app to that app, back to QBO, then to that other app, back to this app, so on an so forth, and hope all are in sync and updated with each other.

"Apps" would ideally integrate into the QBO product to "appear" more seamless AND to give some noticeable continuity to the overall product/service.

A forms "app" will not be considered by us. We already pay enough to QBO for promised functionality that does not exist in the QBO service. They have approximately 6 months for us, to make some marked improvements and bring the functionality we expect, or we're leaving like so many others. We're frustrated with the terrible "updates" and ongoing lack of functionality. The other cloud accounting options are really catching up, and quickly. QBO has dropped their monthly subscription prices, again. The only time a business drops it's prices, is in an attempt to sell more goods, maintain marketshare...or to compensate for their measure against the competition in the marketplace.
      I'd say they're losing subscriptions...

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

      Nice sales pitch below, HA!

Don't give up (on promised features)? Pay $20 on top of what we're already paying for a crippled product? That's lunacy. QBO, y'all had better wake up.

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

Read my posts below, just a few recent ones. Want some acknowledgment, go to facebook. I did, complained several times, was relentless in my point and wasn't satisfied until something real was done for me. They rolled my forms back to the old type, for now. Not very customizable, but better than this latest update. They've got a bad problem of NOT listening to the customer. If you're in search of something else cloud based, Zero or Zoho Books seem to be the most feature packed. Zero has many more addons like QBO, but uses average costing for inventory. Zoho Books has far less addons, but more native functionality, and uses FIFO inventory costing like QBO. Zoho also has very customizable forms, sales orders, partial inventory receipts, etc. MANY more features than QBO.

Zoho is where I'm going start of next year if QBO doesn't get it together, and QUICK!

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

I've looked into Zoho Books, and I'm quite impressed. It was sometime ago that I tried the service out, seems they've made some improvements since then. The Andriod app is much more featured than QBO's useless app. The service in general, is much more robust. The QBO engineers should spend some time seeing how a much smaller company produces a product that has many more features as standard equipment. The work flow is a bit different, and it's tailored a tad more to the paperless office, but all in all it's much more robust than QBO.

Right now, it's my go to choice when I make the move from QBO. Zoho Books also uses the FIFO costing methods, like QBO. Other options out there seem to almost always use averaging, which doesn't work well for my needs.

Oh, and of course the forms are way better looking, much more customize-able, and fit inside window envelopes WITHOUT that ridiculous "detach top portion" message.

QBO team, cruise on over for your 14 day trial, and take some notes on how it's done. They've obviously been watching very closely the negative sentiments with QBO, since their product specifically addresses some of the issues.

AND finally, they also have a suite of add-on type apps (like QBO) should you require some functionality outside of the normal feature set.

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

I looked into Zoho, and ALL the others. I can't say one way or the other about experience, but there are pro's and cons to all the alternative options. The good thing with ZOHO is they have a lot of other functionality, that's all baked in to their eco-system. Might be useful for your needs.

I do want to point out that I really was loud and obnoxious on FB to Intuit recently. And FINALLY today I got some meaningful response to this issue. They're opening a 3rd teir case to roll back my account to the previous forms system. Temporarily of course. They tell me it will take 5 days or so to get the old form system back, but in any case it's a move in the right direction, for me, for now. I am told they are working on improvements based on the most recent fedback, but I am a "I'll believe it when I see it" kinda guy.

I don't necessarily advocate what I did to get to the point they "heard" me, a squeaky wheel does eventually get the grease though.

      GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

.docx you say? I don't have that option. While it "could" be a work around to an extent, doesn't seem to work for anyone else. Big surprise there!
How exactly is that enabled? I imagine a call to the non-tech, tech support?

Honestly, it looks bad to our company in some circumstances when dealing with large corporations, the we use "quickbooks". I pay for the premium top tier plan, removal of ALL Intuit branding should be an option!

Not sure of your exact needs, but Zoho books+Zoho inventory is the most comprehensive cloud accounting system I have foind. All have their shortcomings, but QuickBooks needs to fall off the pedestal. They've done a horrible job providing a usable cloud service to their desktop users, and still to this day encourage switching desktop users in order to gain subscribers of a lesser system just to increase their revenue.

          GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

I am in the same boat as the last comment, importer wholesaler and deals with backorders daily EXCEPT we use QBO and it's a nightmare managing backorders. Intuit does not care to offer that feature to QBO, so don't expect it any time soon. They can't even get their forms situation worked out... several years later. If you need cloud accounting and a rich features including sales orders, check out Zoho Books + zoho inventory. It's where we're going for 2017 on.

Why would you go back to an intuit product? You're going to award them with your business for failing to provide a useable online service, a service which also bears the "QuickBooks" name & logo, which is synonymous with an expected set of features based on 15-20 years of market presence. They should all be hung in the town square for this crap.

          GRRRRRRRR!GRRRRRRRR! commented  ·

QBO will not comment, nor will they be bringing this functionality. It's become 100% clear they set out to develop a subscription based service, I would guess it's revenue generation will soon surpass desktop, simply because of the ongoing revenue QBO generates for Intuit. Intuit will at best make very incremental enhancements, and when they do come to market with certain features, they will likely miss the mark as is usually the case. Your best option is to transition to a provider who does offer the sales order capability, with a more robust inventory system. I've searched many, and Zoho Books + Zoho Inventory is a very powerful package, far exceeding QBO in most areas. QBO is for very basic businesses, with only "invoicing" needs.

Unfortunately, they are miles away from ever even considering this functionality. I've been on them from day one about this, even spoken with the lead engineers, no plans for a sales order type of functionality. Even if and when they do, they'll leave out basic functionality that will make us scratch our heads in disbelief. Of course, you can get SO functionality from a third party app, but then you're using, learning, and trying to utilize at least 2 separate systems that essentially only talk to each other behind the scenes. QBO is NOT QuickBooks. There are other cloud accounting platforms that do have SO functionality, they're also lacking here and there in features. There's a long way to go in cloud accountung, or just getting relatively close to what "QuickBooks" users are accustomed to having as features. They're miles apart.

Intuit has a history of buying and killing companies, I think they saw an opportunity to take out an up and coming company, with no intentions of bring their functionality into the QBO product. Don't expect to see any real inventory enhancements, they leave that space open for those so called "apps".

In addition to what has been mentioned previously, I have the following suggestions I would like to see implemented:
                - Note (internal note section about an inventory item)
                - Alias/alternate (ability to record specific product alternate or mfg.'s p/n
                - Add attachment (picture) like in other areas of QBO
                - Add ability to search all text fields for wild card text strings regarding inventory items
                - Preferred vendor/alternate vendor
                - Show advanced inventory counts on screen, similar to what's available in the inventory item's report. In other words how many of an item are on back order, how many are committed, how many are on order and from which vendor.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE QBO TEAM IN CONSIDERING THESE FEATURES!

Agreed, but then they're getting real close to sales order functionality, which for some reason they WILL NOT introduce.

I agree on this 1000000% Much needed functionality! Doubtful it will ever been seen in the QBO product tough.
