User Access Rights - Payroll Option

Payroll should have its own access rights category. Right now in order to have an employee have rights to run payroll I have to give them full access rights. Can payroll rights be added seperately? ex. I dont want my payroll staff to see balances for all accounts, making purchases for inventory, or entering other transactions not related to payroll.

Thanks

I need to be able to give full access to staff but block payroll access. Employee information is confidential and not everyone should have access to it. This is a Legal/HR matter.

I cant believe this still isnt fixed. Quickbooks....Listen to your CUSTOMERS. We need the ability to grant access to users at a more detailed level.

I've been waiting 7 years for QuickBooks Online to separate payroll functions from general ledger functions via user access. We have grown significantly in those 7 years and now must make some hard decisions. Is there any plan for this change or is another accounting software provider the only option?

Make deposit entries an limited user option so an AR specialist can generate deposit slips without having access to other key features. Payroll access should DEFINITELY be a user level access and not bundled with access for banking/deposit entry. AR staff should never have access to payroll data!!!!

        More flexibility in user rights/access.

I need to ability to block users from payroll but give them access to be able to do anything else.

Absolutely ridiculous...this has been going on since 2014...it still has not been addressed into January 2016!

        Hi,

I'd like to be able to grant a user access to all areas of quickbooks online except payroll. How can this be done?

        Thanks,

User access is too broad. If they have access to Purchasing they can see all bills/payments including any payments to employees. Add a separate access level for employee payments so that those with Purchasing access don't have access to see individual pays. Many clients are now only posting summary pays because of this which complicates bank reconciliations and defeats the purpose of having employees in the first place

I have 3 employees with access to QuickBooks. One of these users does not need access to payroll information, but there is no way to block only this feature.
Please address this issue, as I don't feel we are completely confidential with employees information. Thank you.

Give more user access control - such as restrict users from accessing payroll without restricting access to other areas of Quickbooks

This is a huge security and privacy breach. On the desktop version the Payroll center was walled off. In the QB Online version the manage users section mixes payroll/employee center with everything else. Now our employees have access to each other's information. Either that or we limit their access, but there's only one level of "limit", and in order to keep them out of the employee center we also have to limit their access to other things they need.

This behaves so differently from the desktop version and is so poorly thought out that it's hard to believe. Every company walls off HR from everything else, but currently from the QB Online perspective, if you limit access to HR data, you also must limit access to financial and account function areas of QB that make it difficult or impossible for an employee to do their job.

We are extremely concerned today, having been told we have no other option but to move to QuickBooks Online as you removed our Enterprise Version that worked perfectly. Now we find that the new version has ludicrous permission levels where even simple limited access allows users to view data protected employee payroll information, which we believe should only be available to Company Admin User. We'd urge you to fix this right away as it must be a problem for others. We would like to see an additional setting within the Custom Access that allows you to turn off, or tick no, to accessing the Employee Centre.
This is an urgent and critical matter for our organisation and we find it hard to believe the new online system has reduced permission settings. Your sales advisors painted a picture of a much improved and sophisticated version online and we are most concerned to find this part not so.

Does everyone know that if you give payroll access to your payroll person that they also have access to ALL financial information for the Company. Shouldn't the payroll person's access be limited to only payroll. Currently they have access to way too much financial information.
Why doesn't Intuit fix this problem for Quickbooks online?

I'd like to see under "add a new user" the ability to assign someone payroll responsibility and taxes but not access financials.

Need to have the ability to user setup to allow access banking transactions (like deposits) without having access to payroll

It would be great if user rights could be assigned task by task. Currently in order to have a user enter a "bank deposit" (which is the best way to post in my opinion) I need to give him access to everything including payroll and bank reconciliations which is a conflict because this person is the only employee and since he does the bank deposits and data entering someone else reconciles the accounts

QB Online needs fully customizable access levels. For example, I would like for my bookkeeper to have access to everything in my company file with the exception of payroll. It would be nice if there were a separate payroll tab which housed the payroll register and anything related to payroll. If this were the case, this tab only could be disabled while allowing access to other areas of QB. Under the current access settings, if I limit her access to anything connected to payroll, I limit her ability to make deposits or print checks, which is a huge part of her job.

I want to give an employee access rights to payroll and check writing but limit ability to change or create accounts. I understand from Maegan in Intuit support that this is not currently possible. Please add as feature.
